EB-5 Investor Green Card – U.S. Permanent Residency Through Investment
The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa offers a direct path to U.S. permanent residency (Green Card) for foreign nationals who make a qualified investment in the United States. Each year, the U.S. government allocates up to 10,000 EB-5 visas to eligible investors and their immediate family members.
To qualify for the EB-5 program, an applicant must invest either $1,050,000 or $800,000, with the lower threshold applicable to investments made in Targeted Employment Areas (TEAs)—which are defined as rural regions or areas with high unemployment. This investment must be directed toward a new or existing commercial enterprise in the United States.
Applicants must meet five core eligibility requirements:
Invest—or be in the active process of investing—the required capital amount in a qualifying U.S. business.
Prove that the investment funds originate from a lawful source.
Show that the capital is at risk in the enterprise, meaning it is subject to potential financial loss and not held in reserve or as a loan guarantee.
Make the investment in a qualifying business, which may be newly formed or an existing enterprise that is restructured or expanded.
Demonstrate that the investment will result in the creation or preservation of at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers, either directly or indirectly.
The EB-5 visa is especially attractive for entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals seeking to relocate to the United States while contributing to job creation and economic development. Successful applicants, along with their spouse and unmarried children under 21, are eligible for lawful permanent residency and may ultimately pursue U.S. citizenship.
